10/23/10 – EVOLUTION2 [of Fashion]

A couple weeks ago, I was contacted by the designers of Atussa Couture to shoot and put together a 2-3 minute video marketing piece. They saw the Janra Undefined video I put together this past summer via Henry Navarro of LensExposure and wanted something similar, so thanks Henry for linking us! The marketing piece for Atussa will include footage from a theme fashion show, EVOLUTION2 [of Fashion], which Ryan (aka Brownday) and I both worked yesterday (with pictures provided below). The show took place in a event venue in the Potrero Hill district called Horatius, a very fitting location for a fashion show. This would be my first fashion show and I was pretty excited imagining the types of shots I would get. Video will be available in a week or two. Stay tuned!

The back/preparation room where all the models and designers prepared. This is around 3pm for Atussa Couture’s call time.

The same room around 7 pm filled with more designers and models.

Scouting and reserving shooting spots. Also the secluded area for photographers/videographers

Practice shots. 8pm

Wow they didn’t even ask if they can use my nickname on this bottle of wine. Hahaha.

10:30pm and it’s showtime!

And my pass for the preparation room. Definitely a fun experience and I hope this is the first of many

Janra Undefined Photoshoot (Video)

Not too long after shooting DTA’s music video, I was able to work with Janra Undefined, consisting of Jayne Santayana and Arnelle Lozada (who is also in DTA’s “Leave Yo Numba”), providing them with a creative approach to a behind the scenes video. I was also able to meet make-up artists & hair stylists Step Heavvy, designer Kate Knuvelder of Kaatje Designs, and photographer Henry Navarro of LensExposure.

Originally, the photoshoot was supposed to be on a rooftop but found out we weren’t supposed to be up there and got kicked out lol. It all worked out though because Kearney and Broadway was one block away and it definitely had more exciting shots than a rooftop would have, except that the rooftop had a view of the city skyline that was amazing. Fun experience for sure!

DTA – “Leave Yo Numba” featuring Arnelle (OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO)

Here’s the final product of DTA’s “Leave Yo Numba” music video. Good job to everyone who was apart of this video. Enjoy!

DTA – “Leave Yo Numba” Feat. Arnelle (BTS photos & video)

It’s been almost a month since I last posted on here. Good to come back with some exciting news. Two months ago, a good friend of mine from high school, Andrew del Castillo aka DTA, contacted me about doing a music video for one of his songs, Leave Yo Numba featuring Arnelle. So, we set the 2 day shoot for this past Thursday (July 8th) and Friday (July 9th). Check out the BTS video shot by John Enriquez and photos from my phone. More BTS photos can be found on Ryan’s post.

Pictured is Ryan (camera operator), Arnelle singing the hook, and DTA (Andrew) taking care of playback.

Location 2 of Day 1: The historic 7 Mile House Sports Bar & Grill located in Brisbane, CA. Luckily Andrew had connections with management of the 7 Mile House and was able to have an area reserved for the shoot.

John assisting with production.

Location 3 of Day 1: SFSU Track & Bleachers

We saw these guys warming up on the track who looked like they were in pretty good shape… then we found out they were part of USA’s Track & Field team.

Location 1 of day 2: Tunnel at Golden Gate Park’s polo field.

Andrew wanted to get the silhouette effect at the end of a tunnel and it turned out great, as we expected.

Our 2nd and last location of day 2: The Legion of Honor Fine Arts Museum.

Mainly came here to use the pillars in the front. We were fortunate that there was no security roaming around.

Day 2 went by pretty fast. The last shot of the day taken with my phone. Stay tuned for the final product!

Michelle Dizon Cotillion Trailer

Matt Cab x MotionScope – Somebody to Love (Bieber Cover)

So, a couple weeks ago, Ryan and I had the chance to work with Matt Cab once again. This time it was for a cover of a Justin Bieber song, Somebody To Love, which I have never heard until the day of the cover but grew to love it lol. Anyway, spread the word/RT/post it on Facebook. Here it is:

1st Post x MotionScope x Matt Cab

So it’s about time I, Francis Basco, get my own blog for MotionScope/portfolio purposes, but also for things I find interesting. My first post happens to be MotionScope related. And since this is my first post and my millions of readers might wonder what MotionScope is… MotionScope Studies, founded by Ryan Brown & JJ Casas, is a group of photographers, videographers, make-up artists, stylists, and graphic designers that are focused on making sure they ace every project by working closely with our clients and researching the intricacies that make them unique (yes I stole this from the website haha).

Last night, MotionScope had the opportunity of working again with singer, songwriter, producer, engineer Matt Cab for a promo video for his album soon to release in Japan. This promo video was shot at the Polarity Post Production facility, by way of audio engineer/sound editor Ryan Frias, downtown San Francisco. Accompanying Ryan and I for the shoot were JJ and Nicole to take some photos and to hold our hands haha. Don’t wanna give away too much. Tune in soon for the promo video!

Video stills of the promo can be found here.
